John Isham |
John was the most successful of the Isham brothers. He apprenticed to Otwell Hill, mercer, in 1542. He was freed of his apprenticeship in 1551. In 1552 he married a wealthy widow, Elizabeth Barker. He made good use of Elizabeth's money and by 1572 was very rich. He left the City for the estate in Lamport which he had purchased with his brother Robert in 1560. He was also a partner of his brother Henry.
